Presented by Cafe Racer, Historic Athens Porchfest is returning for its eighth year on Sunday, October 18, 2026, from 1 to 8 PM with 200+ performances. This free, grassroots music festival transforms the Classic City into a sprawling music venue for a full day of live music on porches, front lawns, and in community spaces.
Founded in 2019, Historic Athens Porchfest began with approximately 70 bands across four historic neighborhoods: Boulevard, Newtown, Buena Vista, and Pulaski Heights. In 2020, it expanded into Cobbham and Normaltown, and later Reese-Hancock in 2023. Last year, Porchfest broke records, bringing over 35,000 attendees to 250+ performances in seven historic neighborhoods. This year’s Porchfest line-up was unveiled at the Announcement Day Party, featuring an incredible menagerie of talent across multiple genres. The art and merchandise aim to bring the creativity and history of the Classic City to life by highlighting one porch from each of the 7 historic neighborhoods. Designed by local artist Eli Saragoussi, our Porchfest art will be available on t-shirts, bandanas, hats, koozies, pins, prints, and a special pennant flag featuring the one-of-a-kind historic house art collage.
In addition to the musical performances on October 18, Historic Athens is introducing a new activation: a Kids Zone with Good Shepherd Church with family-friendly activities, fun performances, snacks, and more. The organization is also bringing back the annual collaboration beer with Athentic Brewing Company, themed to highlight the rich history of the area. This year’s can art and beer focuses on an old Athens-based manufacturing company that made baseball bats, Batrite, and the can’s design features a brief description of the factory’s history and its iconic Batrite logo. It will be available in cans and on tap beginning Friday, October 16, 2026, at the Porchfest Kick-Off Party.
For the third year, the Historic Athens Porchfest Vendors Market with Indie South will be at Normaltown Brewing Company, featuring local artisans, makers, and small businesses. Last year, Historic Athens introduced a new part of the Porchfest map, the Food Truck Park, offering attendees a space to enjoy local favorites and featuring a wide variety of offerings in the Athentic Brewing Company parking lot.
Another partnership returning this year is the Trolley Transport with Athens Trolley Tours, where festival attendees can “hop on, hop off” with free trolley rides circulating the area, giving access to various performance venues across multiple neighborhoods. Master's students from the University of Georgia Historic Preservation program will give passengers a historical architecture tour of the neighborhoods they pass through. A select number of participating homes will receive an in-depth house history, completed by Vernacular Architecture students, where each narrative tells the story of the particular site, with the histories published as articles on Grady NewsSource and featured at each house.
