Equitable Home Preservation Initiative
The Athens Justice and Memory Project, the first resident-led effort aimed at addressing the history and impact of Urban Renewal in Athens-Clarke County, has been tasked with collaborating with Linnentown residents, historians, economists, and other stakeholders to redress for the removal of the Linnentown neighborhood and provide a model process for future projects aimed at equity.
Common projects include:
Floor and ceiling repair
Plumbing
Roof/gutter repair
Home weatherization
Accessibility modifications
Painting
Funding for the EHP Initiative is provided with support from ACC-Gov. and the Athens Justice and Memory Project via funding from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). The EHP Initiative also relies upon local construction partners and volunteer groups whenever possible.
