House History:
This Classical Revival home was built in 1912 for cotton broker Thomas Rogers. Even after the Civil War, Athens continued to be a center for textile manufacturing which relied on the Oconee River to receive raw materials which made Rogers a wealthy man.
The house has reportedly served as fraternity house for Sigma Pi, but by 1978, the home was operated by Magnolia Terrace which made the home a bed & breakfast. It is believed that the home served as a popular boarding house between its life as a frat house and a bed & breakfast.
The Rogers House is recognized as one of the finest architectural homes in Athens, and the impressive home shows off its 10-foot beamed ceilings, large entrance foyer with leaded glass surrounding the front door, and beautiful formal dining room. The home features a large patio along its backside.
